Mr. Teppo Winnipeg: Still the GM We Deserve, But Not the One We Can Afford (Yet)
New Jersey — In breaking hockey management drama that has absolutely no effect on actual game results but 100% affects fantasy egos, the notorious, mysterious, and questionably-dressed General Manager Mr. Teppo Winnipeg has announced he might return as the GM of the New Jersey Devils in the KOHL league—but only if the price is right.
Sources close to Mr. Winnipeg (mainly himself) have confirmed that he has been “deeply underpaid for years”, surviving on nothing but caffeine, trade regret, and the tears of rival managers.
“I’m not saying I’m greedy,” said Mr. Winnipeg at a hastily organized press conference in the back of a Tim Hortons, “but if New Jersey wants the brilliance that brought them a solid 6th place finish last season, they’re going to need to double or triple my imaginary salary. Preferably triple. Or add a snack stipend.”
Contract negotiations have reportedly stalled, with the current offer being “a firm handshake and a digital trophy that doesn’t even sparkle.” Mr. Winnipeg has called the offer “disrespectful” and “one good bribe away from becoming GM of literally any other team, including the Moosejaw Molasses.”
